Genii cuculatti

A Medieval Carving of The Hooded Spirits

The Hooded Ones are also known as Genii Cuculatti, and originate from ancient Rome, and are described as 'cloaked scurrying figures carved in an almost abstract manner'.

In most cases, they are depicted in groups of three, as that may be their nature, or fact that there are only three Genii Cuculatti in all. A reason that they are always in a triplet form is because of the association of the number three with mythology.
